To Rhayader from London, the M4 & The South:

• Take the M4 motorway across the Severn Bridge to Junction 24
• Follow the A449 (Dual carriageway) sign posted for Monmouth
• After approximately 12 miles turn left onto the A40 (Dual carriageway) sign posted for Abergavenny
• Go through Abergavenny following the A40 signposted Brecon & Crickhowell
• 4 miles after Crickhowell turn right onto the A479 signposted Talgarth & Builth Wells
• In Talgarth continue following the signs for Builth Wells
• After 2 miles, at a roundabout, turn right following signs for Builth Wells A470
• After another 2 miles turn left following signs for Builth Wells A470
• At Builth Wells continue to follow the A470 now signposted Rhayader you are now in the Wye Valley on the finishing stretch!

To Rhayader from Manchester & The North:

• From Junction 20 on the M6 take the M56 to Runcorn/Ellesmere Port/Birkenhead
• At junction 15 take the M53 to Chester
• After 5 miles or so the motorway ends and you will end up on the A55 Dual Carriageway
• Follow the A55 for 10 miles and turn left onto the A483 sign Wrexham
• Follow the A483 through Wrexham (Bypass), Oswestry (Bypass), Welshpool and Newtown
• Go straight through Newtown following signs for Caersws and Llangurig, the road now becomes the A489 and then the A470 but you don’t turn off!
• At Langurig (which is a roundabout not a town) turn left signposted Rhayader, you are now in the Wye Valley on the finishing stretch!

To Rhayader from Birmingham via Worcester:

• Leave the M5 at junction 7, Worcester South
• Follow the A44 to Rhayader via Bromyard, Leominster and Kington.

To Rhayader from Hereford:

• Follow the A483 signposted Brecon. Although your map may not show it, this road becomes the A4111 to Kington. At Kington join the A44 to Rhayader.

Directions to Elan Valley Lodge from Rhayader:

• From the main cross roads in the centre of Rhayader take the B4518 signposted Elan Valley & Elan Village.
• After two and a half miles you will pass the Elan Valley Hotel on the right, continue for another half a mile and turn left signposted for the Elan Village and Elan Visitor Centre (very big sign).
• Go down the hill and cross the river via the bailey bridge. This bridge looks quite narrow and rickety but it really will hold the weight of you and your car! Follow the road to the left into the Elan Village.
• Take the first turn right (300m after crossing the bridge) signposted Elan Valley Lodge. We are at the top of this lane on the right hand side.
• Please park on the left so as to not block access and parking for our neighbours - Thank you.

SATNAV WARNING If you use satellite navigation to our post code from the south it usually brings you in via a very narrow, muddy road with 3 gates that you need to get out and open. To avoid this, don’t turn off the A470 until you get right into Rhayader, then it will find us OK.
